 Compassion is a Christian child development organization founded in 1952. Compassion assists over 600,000 children in more than 20 countries. Some of the key distinctives of Compassion's work are:
Christ-Centered: We ensure that every child hears the gospel and has the opportunity to trust in Jesus. We hope to lead children into a lifestyle of faith and commitment to God.
Church-Based: Every sponsored child is linked with a Christ-centered church in his or her community. All staff are Christians and all child development activities occur at the church center.
Committed to Integrity: Compassion consistently receives high ratings from independent auditing firms and watchdog organizations. Every year, at least 80 percent of total expenditures are spent directly on program activities.
